Experiential learning groups at the couple and family psychotherapy conference

The Couple & Family Psychotherapy Association of Australasia (CAFPAA) marks a strong return to form with a one and half day conference (17 & 18 March 2018) GrrrOWING UP IS HARD TO DO.

The conference combines the following.

  1. Didactic presentations from members George Haralambous, Laurie Lovell-Simons, Jenny Berg, Lissy Abrahams, and Penny Jools.
  2. Affective Learning Groups which allows the issues from participants’ own clinical practice, stirred by the presentation, to be processed in a “small group”.
  3. A final plenary which provides a “large group” space where the themes emerging in the “small groups”, and throughout the conference, can be examined.

The presentations will be based on aspects of the work appearing in their new book “Working with developmental anxieties in couple and family psychotherapy: The family within.” (Jools, P., Berg., J., Byrne, N. London: Routledge, 2018). The book represents twenty years of thinking by a group originally formed around Dr Charles Enfield (1927 – 2016) in Sydney.

Dates: March 17 9.00 – 5.00pm & March 18 9.30 – 1.00pm

Cost: CAFPA members $300, non-members $400

Venue: The Woolcock Institute, 431 Glebe Point Road, Glebe Sydney
